Sture thought it would be a good idea to get some exercise and go mushroom picking. We joined forces with Eva, Lena’s sister who also lives in Gothenburg and is also a veteran mushroom picker. They decided to try a new place which they had heard good things about.
As you can see, the leaves are turning here from some of the scenery we saw on the way:
Here is another scenic spot that we saw on the way:
Apparently, all of the buildings in this area were traditionally painted red, because there was a copper mine in the area whose by products were used in making paint.
Sture and Eva agreed that the best place to hunt down those fungi was to find old forest with moss underneath to provide the moisture required. I think Sture added the extra requirement that the search areas should also be on a bumpy, slippery slope. Here is a view of Sture’s van from the start of our search area.
Here is another view downhill.
Eva shows us two magnificent specimens that she has “bagged.”
Here is Eva’s booty. Sture did very well also. So, the rumours about this place being a mother lode for mushrooms had some substance. I made a very small contribution. Jet lag has a huge effect on mushroom pickers.
No doubt about it. These guys always get their mushroom(s).
